Use of the Asterisk * for Required Plants for Lecture Exams
The asterisk “*” is used in front of Latin names that are required for lecture exams.
The asterisk is also used for selected names where you should know the synonym as
well. For example, you should know Poison Ivy as Toxicodendron radicans and Rhus
radicans; Fiveleaf Aralia as Acanthopanax sieboldianus and Eleutherococcus
sieboldianus.
