1. Caprifoliaceae or Honeysuckle family


This family has about 15 genera with 7 genera native in the United States.

There are over 400 species with most of them split between Lonicera and Viburnum.


Lonicera or Honeysuckles typically have opposite leaves with an entire leaf margin.

Viburnum have various types of leaf margins, and very showy flower clusters.


The earliest flowering honeysuckle is Lonicera fragrantissima.

The latest flowering honeysuckle that we study is Lonicera japonica ‘Halliana’.
