Resume Guidelines
1. Your resume should be one page in length and with a readable font of 10 point or so.
Don't use handwriting or other fancy fonts.
2. Only use bold for section headings. Be consistent in your format, font size, spacing, etc.
Don’t use a font size smaller than 10 point.
3. Your resume should be an advertisement of your skills and abilities.
Don't sell yourself short by being too modest.
4. When describing work experience, try to be as results oriented as possible.
For example, "Supervised 4 Assistants", or "Increased sales by 5 % that month".
Don't use long detailed descriptions. Employers only spend a short amount of time reading your resume.
5. Be sure you proofread! Spelling and grammar are important.
Your resume is a demonstration of your written communication skills.
If there are mistakes, the employer may not consider your application.
6. Ask friends to read your resume and give suggestions for improvement.
7. Your Resume should be handed in before you enroll in Hrt 493.
