Distribution:  Mexico and Jamaica.

Synonyms:

Size:   8-15 in.

Form:   Frost-tender bushy annual.

Bark:   

Stem/Bud:   Stems are weak and spreading.

Leaves:   Leaves are opposite, bright green, glabrous, 3 in. long, lance-shaped to elliptical, and simple.

Fall Color:   

Flower:   Flowers are orange with white tips and have a spot of black at the very end. Flowers are irregular, 1 in. long, spurred, without petals and solitary. They have a long tubular calyces.

Fruit:   Fruit are paper-like capsules.

Uses:   Use in borders, beds, rock gardens, containers or as houseplants. Grow in greenhouses or conservatories.

Problems:      

Culture:   Grow in full sun to part shade in moist, well-drained soil. Tolerates heat and high humidity. Prune to retain desired shape.
